Wedding Thank You Card Templates

Three months is the convention, and both the Emily Post Institute and The Knot give the same window — but they count it differently. The Institute counts three months from when the gift arrives, so anything that turned up before the wedding started its clock early. Gifts received at or after the wedding give you three months from the day. There is no year-long grace period, whatever you may have heard.

Name the specific gift, say what you will actually do with it, and add one sentence that could only be about that person. Three or four lines is plenty. What changes is the situation — cash, a group gift, a guest who gave nothing, a vendor — and each of those needs different wording rather than a longer note.

Everyone who gave a gift, including people who could not attend, and everyone who hosted or helped — the shower host, the friend who did the flowers, your parents. Guests who attended without giving a gift do not require a card, though a short note thanking them for coming is a kind thing to send.
